Jackfruit seeds. Boiled and ready to be ground into flour.

jackfruit special

Blistering heat is good for some things! Like drying fruit for example. We used a mixture of surprising spices. A little bit of oil, red pepper spices, crushed pili pili, cinnamon, salt and curry powder are the best combination.

(trick: use oil to clean your hands afterwards)

JACKFRUIT

I had never seen this fruit before. It grows on trees that never look alike. The fruit is big and the flesh always tastes differently. You can use the tasty seeds to make flower. Boiled they can be added to any dish (nice in soups or mashed potatoes or...). So many options! We liked the fruit best when dried.

Bonafide

For a few weeks I worked on a permaculture farm called Bonafide.

On a lake, on an island, in the jungle, on a volcano they help out the community as well as research new permaculture technics. A wonderful farm full of amazing people (and animals). Everything is used and re-used. The egg shells are crushed and put into the compost.

making chocolate with Johanna

In stead of sugar and milk we used a combination of honey, home-made peanut butter and freshly graded coconut to make the chocolate taste sweet. And sweet it was!

With so much fruit around how could we not experiment with flavors? My favorite combination was lemon juice, cane sugar, lots of ice, chopped basil and fresh mint.

let's spice things up

It's been a busy busy week! From hanging new wallpaper at Normo to the Pitti Uomo in Florence (with Morrison and The Jante Law) it's been hectic but awesome. We had a lot of sun, some rain, too much air conditioning and a whole lot of pasta. A huge delay on the pictures because we are going analog for a while. But no worries! Plenty of good old Central America pictures to fill the gap. A little recipe of strange deliciousness.
