Shadow puppets

With my passion for children's books and theater I was ecstatic to hear that shadow puppet shows are a great tradition in Bali. Reduced from a 4 hour play to a 1 hour play (thank god) for tourists a wonderful show was put on for us. Music was played with unknown instruments and the balinese language became a little bit less abstract then before. I couldn't help myself and bought two shadow puppets made out of leather and hand painted to try them out at home. The details on these puppets are incredible. Tiny decorations are carved in the leather resulting in a beautiful shadow. I got an angry cat and an evil tiger-man.
