My buddy at Extrapool

Today we are printing the 'Daar is Wally' ('There is Wally') wallpaper and postcards. Because sunday will be the big day we glue the wallpaper to the wall!!! Oh yeah.

An amazing performance on the night of the book-launch by Olgar. With Stefan Schäfer on the overhead projector and Christoph Scherbaum on guitar and effects. Do you recognize a certain wallpaper on the background?

Still very wet and bright. The glue still needs to dry but it will be good enough for tonight's book party! I am very pleased with the effect! Almost like a little doll's house.

Out with the old in with the new

Lovely Maria is showing me how it is done. Not as easy as I thought.

Today is the day we glue the wallpaper onto the wall. Very nervous since this is my first time.

O ow

O ow! The yellow leaves make a very strange optical illusion. From afar you can't really see them, they have become faded yellow areas resembling pipi. Yes, pipi. So no yellow leaves for this wallpaper! Only light blue and old pink. We will use the others as wrapping paper.

I picked the rich raspberry pink, lemony sunshine yellow and bright sky blue. (colors aren't showing well on the picture)

Pink or blue? I still can't decide.

This is it. A happy-kitchen-wallpaper. This will be Slimtarra's newest wallpaper-design! Some changes to the color might be made during production tomorrow but it is basically finished. We might even use it as wrapping paper for the Parked Car books.

This one? I like the repeating triangular shapes in the electric poles. Also the surroundings of fields of grass are seen on every google-image I found.

This little bookstore is part of Extrapool where you can find the books they have printed and much more! Sarah is in charge of this little piece of heaven. On the Anderhalfwitavond most of these will be for sale. Why come to this event you may ask? To enjoy some strangely colored drinks, oddly shaped cookies and to get your hands on some pretty hot printed matter.

Guestroom

Everyone is welcome to stay at Extrapool! The cosy guestrooms are for designers or bands that need to stay there for a night or two.

SLIMTARRA

'Every now and then Extrapool invites artists from various fields to design a wallpaper for our public-space. The design can be aesthetically pleasing or conceptually sound, as long as it fits a DIN A3 paper. The wallpaper is printed by KNUST in Extrapool and DIN A3 is sort of the limited size for the stencil machines.' As it is explained on their website. 

EXTRAPOOL

Today I went to Nijmegen to visit Extrapool. I met Jan Dirk and Joyce the two founders who have a fascinating way of working. Very passionate about stencil printing they have been doing this for over 20 years. What better way to learn then to spend some time with them? For the Anderhalfwitavond (January 20th, everyone is welcome) my wallpaper will cover one of the walls at Extrapool.
